Yeah once they took it on commercially they swapped the 140/141 routes around a couple of times at least.

I think the drop to every 2 hours and the ridiculously early finish (1500 from Newton) were the final nails in the coffin of this route.

The 141 is out for tender with both 2 hourly and hourly timetable options. Whether the tender is issued is a different matter but it was put out by Merseytravel

Hattons are now using the new ticket machines

Doesn't look like the tender has been issued as the new timetable is now online with Daytime service completely withdrawn without replacement.

Pretty much the same as what happened to the 140 I wonder if the daytime 39 will go eventually as well

The 39 is a contract whereas the 141 was commercial so should be alright for now.

But as you say the daytime 140 was withdrawn and the 39 only started later, so hopefully something similar will happen with the 141. Other alternatives could be 1 35 an hour extending to Bold, or Link Networks 329 going via Junction and Bold but obviously they both depend on Arriva and Link Network.

Extending the 35 to Bold was what I was thinking I think that is the most realistic option if the 141 gets replaced I doubt the 329 will be rerouted.

Another option could be rerouting the 39 around Sutton so that it goes to St Helens Junction station before Morrisons/Baxters Lane and then after Reginald Road continuing to Bold and terminating there, would just leave Helena Road unserved.

I wonder if this withdrawal had taken place in April as part of the Network Review, would Warrington's Own Buses have put the 22 through to St Helens instead of Ashton. Just a thought.
