When you look at the pictures it actually looks like a gable end of the building that was attached to the metal and Glass canopy has collapsed , sending debris all over the Manchester bound platform .

Probably before they can run services again through the station , they will need to make the canopy safe by removing most of the canopy , that is now a twisted wreck and ensuring the rest of the building wont collapse.

There is a disused platform 3 which freight trains sometimes stop at to allow another train to overtake, which may be possible to reopen before it's safe to allow passengers in to the station again.

These were created while 4 car 150s were still running on the Southport services, so probably used the trains not being used while lines were running at a reduced frequency. There was always a plan to reform some 150s in to 3 car sets when the cascaded trains arrived from GWR, to use alongside the 2 x 3 car 150/0s.
Thank you for that. I didn't see those posts.

Not yet the full daily service. I caught the 21.06 from Stockport heading for Southport yesterday but it was a class 150.

150102 replaced 769458 after the latter failed at Wigan on the 08:14 Southport to Alderley Edge, the third time that unit failed in passenger service in 3 days. 769431 and 769434 have also managed to fail while in passenger service in the past week.

Has anyone seen InPost lockers appear at Northern stations?

I notice their website says some stations have them but I haven't seen them and they aren't listed as locations on the InPost website.

So it sounds as though my train had been scheduled to be a 769. I hope eventually to have a proper ride on one rather than just 1 stop.

153316 was taken away from Heaton on Thursday via low loader believed to be heading for scrap.

Yet looking at journey check the other day dozens of trains were 2 cars v 3 cars - why on earth they couldn't have been semi-permanently coupled to 150/2s escapes me.
