RE: Transport for Wales Rail - mikestone - 06/08/2019 17:26

It would appear the "back of an envelope" plan to run the three round trips failed to take account of the need to put the stops taken out of 1W91 into the 08.52 from Piccadilly, and consequently retime its return working to 11.48, thus making the proposed 11.50 departure to Cardiff impossible.
;
1W91 being non stop from Shrewsbury to Wrexham is also problematic - I though that it was likely some trains were to be reduced to two cars between Salop and Inter to release a unit for a replacement stopper returning in the path of the 12.32 Holyhead-Maesteg, but the appearance of this new shunt

albeit 1G45 13.30 Aberystwyth-Birminghm International becomes 1I20, suggests the reduction is at least in part going to be between Shrewsbury and Machynlleth.

Have the class 150 been cascaded ?

RE: Transport for Wales Railg - mikestone - 07/08/2019 16:17

The 15.25 from Birmingham to Holyhead was a single 150 - despite which the CIS was still claiming it would split at Salop!

I saw this unit - it's a hybrid made up with a vehicle from a different unit

The ‘new’ timetable needs looking at again.

If from December 1V98 is hauled as suggested and goes non stop LLJ-CTR, this leaves a hour and half gap in the afternoon peak up the coast eastbound as 1J70 is also non stop.

The 1148 departure service from HHD to BHI (1I18) will be previously formed from 1W91 and 1D33.

Will the 1I18 be formed of 6 cars since the 1D33 is formed of a pair of class 158 and 1W91 is formed of one class 158?

RE: Transport for Wales Rail - mikestone - 09/08/2019 14:13

Currently 1W91 forms 1V96 at 12.23 to Maesteg. The plan as I understand is for 1W91 to be mk.4s from December returning at around 11.50.
Clearly with 1D33 making additional calls it can't go back as 1I18 before 11.48 - the "obvious" solution would seem to be to run it at 12.23 and terminate at Shrewsbury, if another set can be produced by re-diagramming to restart 1I18 at Chester.
;

1D33 is only a pair of 158s to Chester where it detaches a set for 1D93 - normally in summer STP diagrams have left both sets to go through and 1D93 has been replaced by extending the 09.42 from Crewe, but this doesn't seem to be happening this year.

This morning however the 10.07 arrival, a 158, from Liverpool did the 10.04 to Llandudno, 1D93, and 175113 the 10.12 to Liverpool off 3b via the down main round the 08.10 Euston-Holyhead!
The 07.21 Cardiff-Holyhead just arrived formed by 2 x 175/0s too!

RE: Transport for Wales Rail - mikestone - 14/08/2019 12:55

Holyhead-Cardiff missing in December has now appeared, departing at 11.34. No replacement showing yet between Chester and Shrewsbury for 12.23 Holyhead-Maesteg.
06.35 Wrexham-Liverpool starts back from Shrewsbury, but not the evening return.
.
The 18.46 arrival at Wrexham Central goes empty to Birkenhead North Depot, with an empty stock from Chester forming the 20.49 Wrexham-Shrewsbury. Nothing yet shown off Birkenhead North.
