Small matter of cash flow and or credit rating to consider

Lease = £££, especially Ensign and is not always the most cost efficient way of operating a route. For example, some leases stipulate that vehicles must be maintained by main dealers to keep warranty and cannot be worked on in house (similarly to cars on leases/PCP, etc); this can lead to a lot of down time for vehicles where other vehicles would have to stand in for them anyway. It does indeed work for some businesses but I don't think it would for just 1 route.

Many smaller firms do it with Dawsons that how they do it as smaller firms can`t just buy new. and it all depends on who you hire off with the terms and you price it all within the bid you make. Buying any cheap runner off ebay is not the way to get tenders. as they like to see smart buses that all look the same or have some uniform type of bus. if you got off ensignbus they would not be new buses so would be not has picky as it would HP more then Hire

The MMC is only out by 2 seats for 70 capacity.

Keep an eye out on whats going on, may interest everyone... Dunno why!! hahaha

Theres no issue with credit rating or funds. Its just debatable on whats required. With the current timetable, the X1 has one duty that doesn't operated in peak so the MMC is perfect. It finishes at 4pm.

The Merseytravel tender is only for whilst COVID is about, they have no intentions of running the X1 under a permanent contract long term.

Well if the route needs a bus more than a midi it not a social route in need. it making money due to the numbers if not there a issue with the fares. and not a merseytravel contract you can put whatever bus you want on it.

Apparently it can be extended if ‘mutually acceptable’ so I’m thinking they’ll consider running it for a longer period. If not, Arriva have fully cancelled the service so very likely they won’t return to it, leading to some very angry... Runcornians?

Anyway, would be great if you win the contract, as you already have route knowledge and a solid fleet.

Are there odd services with high loadings but low takings, like the first service after 09:30 or buses which carry scholars?

The 48 Frodsham-Northwich bus is usually a Wright Cadet but only two journeys need a big bus, for some journeys a 8 seater minivan would be adequate!

Yeah, a similar situation with the X1, the peaks are busy and then numbers drop off between then. The odd few get on (when we’re allowed) but I’d say an Optare Solo would suffice!

Solos can vary quite a lot in size. There's some with just 19 seats, while others have 35.

My apologies, imagine the smallest version of the Solo
