Other fleet news - 4107 has arrived but has expensive gearbox problems to deal with, no sign yet of 4100 and 4102 even though 2 DLA's 4098 and 4156 are withdrawn.
The other B7's appear to be settling down after some initial problems.

Forgot to mention 4104 which has been sent away for replacement engine.

Wythenshawe should get more Pulsars to cascade 55 plate cadets to Winsford for them to cascade theres elsewhere in the UK or cascade both cadets and commanders 10 vehicles to Winsford to cascade there 10 cadets elsewhere in the UK mainly for Pointer replacements

Anything is gd news if it means there's even a slight possibility of the centros buggering off!!!! Think we'll need some commanders though as loadings on the #84 seem to be getting busier all time now.

Good to hear the B7s are settling down, quality buses these one or two points from a driver:

(1)They're a little slow off the mark so for getting across busy roundabouts etc.

(2)Apparently some drivers are having difficulty hearing the bells when bus rattles about going over bumps & the like.

I thought since the Volvos arrived that 84 is meant to be virtually all double deckers now during the week as I thought that's why Winsford were getting them, just seems that they seem to be using them on various services now including Northwich/Winsford-Crewe mainly

RE: Arriva North West - Winsford Depot - 33109 - 19/12/2014 09:44

Coz that's the way it is am afraid chief. Sometimes deckers can't be used on the #84s if there's road closures around crewe area which means they're unable to fit under certain bridges.

Plus the likes of following need deckers:

(29)Goes right past leftwich high & winsford academy so is VERY heavily used by school kids hence need for deckers.

(31)College students from northwich john dean's use this so decker requirement.

(37a)Again same reason as above used by school kids & college students so requires deckers or a long wheelbase single deck.

Which is why if & when wythenshawe cascade their cadets/commanders for new pulsars we might get em. Commanders are basically just a cadet with approx another 3-4ft added to the rear so would be ideal tbh.

Also the #38 macc-crewe sometimes nicks a winsford decker if 1 of our macc geminis is off for any reason which seems be getting more & more common IMHO.

Perhaps Winsford prefer to retain their own Cadets that were new for the 84, they know them inside out opposed to getting 55 plates that are 12 months newer that may introduce problems. The obviously replacement for either some of the Cadets or possibly Centros would be the ex ARRIVA Cymru, TrawsCambria Commanders that have appeared at Speke of late.

On the Arriva Northwest yahoo group it's reported that one of the original 84 cadets, 2497, has gone to Speke, so perhaps their not keeping em.
It seems that the B7s are just replacing the Daf DDs on a 1 for 1 basis, rather than replacing the cadets on the 84 though. Drivers say there getting some newer deckers from London for use on the 84 next year.

No 2497 is likely to have gone to Speke on loan to cover for the bus involved in the incident in Garston last week.

Be interesting to see what deckers show up for the 84. Hopefully its VLWs again as 4215 has been a cracker thus far!

Our cadets are slightly long in the tooth nowadays particularly 2498/2500 which has developed a whine from the bk end so guessing its axle or diff issues? But they've served us well & don't give too many probs tbh.

I would not think that 2504-13 would leave Speke until further double deckers arrived to replace them.
