From the following page, it seems that there will be no 17A when the QBP on the St Helens - Widnes routes is introduced on 29th March.
Also only Halton and Arriva are mentioned -- HTL must not be involved.

With Htl 17 being a merseytravel tender they may not want it part as everyone will be boarding the bus with weekly and day tickets off halton and arriva but i think they should accept them as it would make it a proper QBP.

Although it doesn't mention HTL or Hattons (who run 2 Sunday AM runs) it does mention the 17B itself, which is only ran under tender. So unless Halton have replaced the 17A with the 17B they might be involving the tendered service too. Although I have to say I have personally been told nothing about it other than HTL will continue to operate the evening and Sunday service.

With the demise of ACE travel, Halton have taken over routes 264, 289 and 290. It is nice that they have benefitted from this expansion, especially as Arriva have not gained any work from ACE!

With route 319 from St Helens to Ormskirk up for grabs in April, this could be a nice route for Halton! Maybe buses on route 17 or 17a could become a 319 at St Helens?

The 264 finishes in a few Weeks and the 289 and 290 are on 13 Week Contracts so they may not retain them, I have recently sent an E.Mail to Merseytravel regarding the 319 so who knows with that, unlikley tho

Details of the new timetables from the 29th March are available here:
http://home.btconnect.com/haltontransport/newtimes/index.htm

I particularly like service 62A as a replacement of the extension of Arriva's 329 -- though it isn't so useful that it departs Daresbury at 2 minutes to the hour (something like 10 past would be more useful for most workers), but you can't have everything.

On the QBP front, the 17 will operate every 20 minutes MS daytime, there will be no 17A, and Arriva/HT will alternate, each running every 40 minutes.
Interesting to note that the 17B is curtailed only to run as far as Green Oaks in Widnes -- I think this is a move to improve punctuality as times used to be a bit tight.

Service 9 is being reduced to just 3 round trips per day (MF).

The 27 gets an evening service until after 10pm -- and every half-hour at that!

Quite surprising that very few 61's will do the full length Murdishaw to Liverpool, and most of those are on Sundays.

These are just some things of particular note; there is lots more on the service changes page.

Two other changes not yet noted here is that the first HTL service, 1840 from Widnes, is withdrawn and it now starts at St Helens at 1912. The other change is for the first time Arriva and Halton tickets will be accepted on the HTL service which means passengers will no longer have to pay on the service any more in the evening or Sunday.
