Didn’t Halton also have some 6.7Ls? I remember DK60 AHN which promoted the 17 Widnes to St Helens and also a newer one with e-leather seating.

I agree with you, they are nicer!

Enviro200 14 DK60AHN now operates for Clarke Coaches of Gourock. These ex Halton buses are certainly starting to spread about!

Seems the rot set in when David Cunningham and Chris Adams retired in 2005 and 2012.

From my experience this is a very fair summary.
The council is now objecting to the building being listed - it has plans to develop the site - but FOI requests are revealing some suspicious manoeuvres in the months leading up to the plug being pulled.
The bottom line seems to be that although there may be a fishy aroma around the story nobody with any authority appears to be interested in getting to the bottom of it.
