Given most of Arriva's routes out towards the south of the City are in the 70s/80s, renumbering to 71 would be a reasonable fit.

Sorry but Arriva had less than 48 hours to set it all up and put into place the replacement staff and buses, and to give some kind of service and Runcorn & Widnes now as they have taken on more driver they are able to look at in more closely,

Plus don't forget evan doe most drivers taken on are from Halton they still have to have medical's plus most will not be firmilery the the Arriva fleet so would need type training

I’m curious if Green Lane or Speke could run the 61 to save on Bridge costs I assume that’s the reason the 79C was replaced with the 500 and swapped with Speke

I wonder if they had issues this week on Queens Drive by the Rocket as both 61 routes were serving the same stop when the route looped back to Runcorn via Rocky Lane and pethaps anyone waiting there may have boarded one expecting to go to Aigburth?

With it going back to the city centre that's not so much a problem but if Arriva did decide to re-number it they could maybe use a number like the 5, 16 (similar to the 15 which runs in Huyton) or 76 which did a sort of similar route years back.

Reckon they'll just leave it and good news it's running back to the city centre from next week makes sense.

Actually Arriva has no intention to run the 61 into Liverpool in the first place and have only decided to do so on a Trial Period following complaints including from Politicians. The route will now be closely watched to see how it performs

RE: Halton Transport - Raawwwrrr! - 31/01/2020 22:23

To be honest, the whole Halton area could do with renumbering as none of the routes are in any form of sequence

Perhaps a 9* prefix following on from South Liverpool routes for example?

3a/b/c/d - 94/95/96/97
17 - 33
61 - 91
62 - 92
79 - 99
79c - 79a
110 - 90
500 - 100
X1 - X1
X30 - 93

If the 61 was GL operated I’d nominate it to become the 6

What do mean by cost of the the bridge I am confused ????

Here are some fact about the Merseygate Brdge any bus that is on a stage carriage route are not charged so all routes operated by Runcorn are free

Runcorn had a staff bus that picked up staff around Widnes and Speke as this was a service it would have cost £8 each way.

To get around this it changed to a service the number been 982 check this link https://www3.halton.gov.uk/Pages/publictransport/pdf/BusTimetables/Timetable982.pdf

Arriva's replacement 61 to run to Liverpool again from 3rd February

By now, this or the other route 61 (Bootle - Aigburth Vale) surely needs renumbering?

Why? There are 2 number 1's in Chester, So long as people are not silly and look at the front of the bus theres no problems
