EastEnders actor Derek Martin has died aged 92. The soap legend was best known for playing Charlie Slater on the BBC soap from 2000 to 2011. He was also known for starring in Doctor Who, Softly Softly, Z-cars, Dixon of Dock Green, The Bill and Eldorado amongst countless other TV appearances throughout his career.

Actress Patsy King has passed away at the age of 95. The actress was most famous for portraying Governor Erica Davidson in Prisoner Cell Block H.

Scottish actor Donald Douglas, who appeared in three Bridget Jones films, has died at the age of 92. He also appeared in the films A Bridge Too Far and Highlander: Endgame. He also had roles in iconic shows like Doctor Who and Young Sherlock: The Mystery of the Manor House.

Catherine O'Hara, the comedic actress best known for her starring roles in the Home Alone and Beetlejuice films, as well as her Emmy-winning turn in Schitt's Creek, has died aged 71.

Snooker legend and BBC commentator John Virgo has died aged 79. Virgo enjoyed an 18-year professional career, winning the UK Championship and reaching the semi-finals of the World Championship in 1979. He is perhaps best known for his post-playing career, presenting popular snooker TV show Big Break alongside comedian Jim Davidson from 1991 to 2002. Following his retirement from playing in 1994, Virgo became a BBC commentator. His last commentary for the BBC came 17 days ago when Kyren Wilson beat John Higgins in the Masters final.

A former soap star whose career in television spanned 40 years has died at the age of 104. Elizabeth Kelly, best known for playing busybody Nellie Ellis in EastEnders, died peacefully in Scarborough on 31 December. The actress began her acting career in the late 1960s and played Edie Burgess in the ITV soap Coronation Street in 1971. She went on to portray various roles in several drama series, including The Bill and Where the Heart Is.
