Can be for a range of 'offences' - but details of reasons for the decision aren't published - but some cases do get coverage in Route One magazine though.
Section 17 of the Public Passenger Vehicles Act 1981 relates to the powers of the Traffic Commisioner to revoke an operator's licence if it appears at any time that the holder no longer satisfies one or more of the following requirements;
- to be of good repute
- to be of appropriate financial standing
- professional competence
These can relate to specific issues around maintenance, timekeeping, behavior of the liceence holder/manager and the viability of a business.
The Traffic Commissioner usually summons an operator's owners and/or managers to a public hearing before making a decision. In Comfy Bus' case it was a 'Formal Warning' - a yellow card in effect. VOSA will also keep a close eye on an operator that has been before the Commissioner.

So that is Ace Travel's cancellation of the Maghull Cirulars (while Cumfybus registered them last week) while today's Arriva for the 156/602 cancellations are those registered by HTL Buses last week.
I wonder incidentally, was yesterdays alteration to the 56/56A by Arriva a cancellation of their 156 (Liverpool) Saturday AM trips (or possibly commercialising them) as the change is dated from the 7th as all other contract changes are and the Sat AM 156 was up for renewal.
Incidentally this weekend marks 8 weeks to go until 7th October so bar any late changes, they should have all gone through by now shouldn't they?

VOSA should have received them, but depending on how many more changes are to come, it could be another week or two before they are all processed.

Seems that VOSA always seems to get a backlog at certain times of the year usually in January , April , August , October/November usually these coincide with the PTA tender awards .
For commercial bus operations the first week of September is another busy one .

i hear that when VOSA gets a request it normally takes 7-14 working days for the change to come up on here but i cant confirm that, another thing is keep an eye on arriva manchester routes as the 10 should be on the north west licence and should be put over to merseyside one (due to it going bolton) any day now
