Well that really is kharma working at its best!
Bluebird successfully run the 112 for years before JPT decided to cream off more and more profit from the route.
What goes around comes around!

RE: JPT Bus Company - T42 PVM - 06/07/2013 08:16

yesterday i did hang around on the 112 services for a few hours and i had to say overall JPT was picking more up passengers than stagecoach, one example being i was on a stagecoach 112 from middleton - Manchester and we had no more than 10 people on at one time and as i got of a JPT 112 came behind and 23 people got of, if i was JPT i would look at creating a 15 min service (currently 20 min) and route branding the buses for the service

the reason JPT are doing as good as they are is they are using deckers on there (something i think the route requires most days)

Sharing?? The JPT journeys run 5 mins in front - then there is a 15 minute gap until the next bus! If they were evenly spaced, maybe you could consider that sharing. More like good old fashioned poaching. ;-)

Ye but First initially had a monopoly in the area so did Bluebird start poaching?

Either way Stagecoach is a more dangerous competitor than Bluebird, but JPT run more local services than Stagecoach. Will be interesting to watch.

Somebody needs a history lesson.
Bluebird have or had been around a lot longer than First.LOL

I think in time Stagecoach will make their presence known. The paint is barley dry on the buses (the ones that have been painted) and I think any big changes in frequency by Stagecoach could be seen as predatory.

Run by Jpt. Late night journeys run by Jpt are withdrawn.

156 - 29/07/2013 Langley – Manchester
Run by Jpt. Most journeys are changed to run between Middleton and Manchester only. Times changed

157 - 29/07/2013 Mills Hill/Hollin – Manchester
Run by Jpt. Changed to run between Middleton and Manchester only. Times changed.

Some other changes, mainly minor time adjustments.

No shock about the 17, but what a shame the 156/157 changes didn't prove to be successful. hopefully it won't stop JPT trying new routes, I think a Middleton-Alkrington-Moston-Manchester service could work well, or a service from Middleton to Salford/Trafford centre.

One other change not mentioned is that JPT will be running the Sunday evening service on the 78 from 28 July.

First Manchester is the successor to GM Buses who have been round a lot longer than Bluebird. And agreed it would look very predatory if Stagecoach started any massive frequency increases so soon after the deal.

Wonder what buses they will use on the 78.

Looks like JPT are back on the 17 route, as it's being reported in the documents for TfGM's Bus Committee meeting that JPT will run a weekday service from 2 September, running every 20 mins, which will increase to every 10 mins at peak times. Not sure if it's the full route or just Manchester-Middleton. The TfGM documents seem to suggest it's the full route to/from Rochdale.
