Liverpool is to get new air links, from Monday 6 July, with Aberdeen and Southampton operated by Eastern Airways, the Humberside based airline that serves many regional destinations around Britain.

Good to see another operator using Liverpool Jophn Lennon Airport particularly in the current economic climate
i should of posted about this yesterday when i found out off nwan forum. it must of just been announced by the airport as eastern already had the option to book flights set up. they will be using saab-200 aircraft on the route. i hope it workes out for them as flybe did them i think last year but didnt go as planned so they got axed
It seems Eastern loaded the information on part of their site before the announcement which went out early morning today (14 May).
The first service of the day to both Southampton and Aberdeen will be operated by a SAAB but the other journeys will be by JETSTREAM (J41)
Flybe services were moved to Manchester when they took over British Airways regional operations. The Southampton service from Liverpool seemed to have fairly good support.
Whilst the connection for Southampton cruises seems attractive the limits on baggage restricts the market. Most P&O and Royal Caribbean cruises have formal evenings so the dinner suit, fancy dresses etc have to be accommodated. Traveling by car or coach gives more flexibility in this regard.
It is useful for placing crew and entertainment staff as well as general maritime connections between two important UK ports
Good send off for the new service aided by Ken Dodd: http://www.liverpoolairport.com/press-office/officials-tickled-as-ken-launches-new-liverpool-services.html
